Canalicular adenoma of the minor salivary gland in the upper lip: case report
Canalicular adenoma is a rare benign tumor of the minor salivary glands that is the most prevalent in older adults (mean age, 60 years). The upper lip is the most commonly affected site, followed by the buccal mucosa and palate. It presents as a nodular lesion without a tendency for recurrence. Here, we describe a case of canalicular adenoma presenting as a nodular, painful mass in the upper li...
متن کاملChromosomal aberrations in minor salivary gland pleomorphic adenoma.
PURPOSE Cytogenetic analysis of a pleomorphic adenoma (PA) arising in the major salivary glands, in particular the parotid, is well documented, with chromosome 8 being the most commonly involved aberration, mainly in t(3;8). However, cytogenetic studies of PA in the minor salivary glands (MSGs) are rare and, to the authors' knowledge, only 3 reports have been published. The authors investigated...

We discuss the optimal treatment and outcomes for pleomorphic adenoma of the salivary glands by reviewing the pertinent literature. Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common benign salivary gland neoplasm. It is found mostly in the parotid gland in middle-aged women. It progresses slowly and, left untreated, can produce significant morbidity and, rarely, death. The optimal treatment is superficial...
متن کاملCanalicular adenoma of the parotid gland: a case report.
Canalicular adenoma is an uncommon benign neoplasm that occurs almost exclusively in the upper lip and, very rarely, in other sites. We describe a case arising in the left parotid gland as a firm, painful mass, in order to underline morphological and immunohistochemical findings, particularly in relation to differential diagnosis with low-grade carcinomas of the salivary glands.
